A sister chapter to Firelands Positive People, we are a group of community professionals who have come together to further develop ourselves as leaders, advance a culture of continuous improvement in our organizations and to promote life-long learning and positive living in the communities we touch.
Tom Hoffman, owner of Valley Electric Inc., is very involved in his community. He helped found Sandusky County Positive People in 2010. “It’s hard to see that our students’ ‘normal’ isn’t the same as the ‘normal’ many of us grew up with. If we can give these young adults encouragement and help make their journey even a little bit easier, then it’s worth every effort.”

Peggy Courtney, Executive Director of the Sandusky County Convention & Visitors Bureau, is proud to be one of the founding members of Sandusky County Positive People. “I became involved because I liked the idea of lifting up these students who have been through so many challenges in their young lives. I love being able to give them the positive reinforcement to stay on the right path and to give them the message that their community truly DOES care about them! SCPP is changing lives, one student at a time.”

I joined the SCPP board of directors in March of 2016. I first become involved with SCPP when the mentoring committee was started a few years back. I am currently a co-chair of this committee. My husband and I, along with our three children, all grew up here in Sandusky County and graduated from St. Joe. I am currently employed as a physical therapist for PT Services. I am proud to be part of SCPP as it allows me to give back to a community that has given my family and me so much over the years.
Gary Pollock, the Facility Manager at Croghan Colonial Bank has a desire to make his community a better place to live and work. Through education our youth will lead us into a better future.
Carla Waggoner, President/CEO of Area Financial Services, Inc., is determined to be involved in making a difference. “I’ve found a family who wishes to increase social awareness and responsibility, and I am thrilled to be a part of it.”
